One Hindu Perspective : Wonder and the will to care
The principles of Vedanta were discovered by ancient sages who found that no amount of searching in the external world would yield the answers to their fundamental questions about life and existence. So they turned to an exploration of the inner-world – the precincts of the mind. Here they ultimately found they were able to penetrate the veil obscuring the Truth they sought! And they found the external to be but a dull reflection of the internal.
Though of ancient origins, many of these discoveries are now found to be in remarkable harmony with modern science. The complexity and beauty of the double helix discovered by Watson and Crick which are the building blocks of life are part of that physical world are part of the wonder of the earth’s complexities. The will to care is generated out of this wonder.
